I mentioned in another post that I am planning to go dual exhaust on my 84 F250 4x4 LB/Reg Cab. I currently have a single 3" pipe with a flowmaster, (I think it is a 40) its been a year since I put it on. My question is this. Can I run a pipe out the drivers side? I know the gastanks and lines are there but I have seen some Fords with sidepipes. I don't have any special desire for sidepipes, it just seems it would be easier than going all the way around the other side of the truck. But I understand the Gas concern is probably the main reason, right?
You definately dont want to bring heat anywhere near youre gas tank. Are you open to running a SI/DO muffler? That would give you the duals you are looking for.
Stay away from the tanks on our old trucks. You can run true duals down the passenger side and turn the mufflers vertical plenty of room. I did this setup on mine. A custom exhaust shop would be your best bet.
In the end its not that much more pipe to run duals down the passenger side. Not only is the fuel tank in the way, but if you have a 4x4, the front driveshaft and transfer cass might be difficult to go around.

Thanks for the answers, that is kind of what I was expecting to hear. One more question though. What is the difference in the length of the mufflers. With my 460 it should sound pretty good once it is dualed, but what will the muffler length give me?
