Y-block transmision

Is there any way to attach a c-4 or c-6 or any other auto transmission to a y-block without paying 500+ for an adapter? Ed

The FMX transmission will bolt to a stock truck automatic bellhousing with some work. It's been documented and is described on other y-block web forums.

Some people will deprecate the FMX but it lives behind many high torque engines like 390's and 351C/4V. If I am recalling correctly, it has the advantage of being able to be push started if your battery goes dead. Most other automatic transmissions won't do that.

I have not heard a great deal of good about the FMX. Does it have 3 gears and can you start the truck off from first. Ed

The FMX conversion uses some CruiseO Matic parts.
Nothing wrong with the FMX except weight, Summit even carries a performance kit for it.

I ran one for years behind a honkin' 390 and never a problem, even towing a loaded car trailer.

FMX is a heavy dependable transmission that will handle severe abuse in a drag car. Only drawback is weight. I will be using it in my 57 F100. You can use factory mounts, shifters, linkages, driveshaft, speedometer cable, etc................

And yes, the FMX is a true 3spd selectable tranny; it is the forerunner of the C6.
