Milage
I have 2004 F250 4x4 crew cab w/ 6.0 and auto transmission. Currently am at about 12000 miles and am getting about 15 mpg. Was wondering if this is about right. My driving is mostly interstate and I probably average a speed I would prefer not to post. Just wondering what other people are getting. The dealer told me that once the engine is broken in, I could maybe get 20 or even 22. I found it hard to believe.

That is the milage that I got out my 2000 7.3 but I cant see the 6.0 getting that, mine is about sorry 12.8 on the hwy., but there is no way to tell some people are getting great and others are getting terrible mpgs, it just depends on if you got a good one or a problem one.

I do also figure by hand.
This past Sunday, I went 405 miles on 20 gallons of fuel, that's 20.25. Now, that being said, if I am on secondary roads where the speed limit is 55, I normally run 64, and I get almost 23mpg.
This truck never ceases to amaze me !!
Completely stock and she will stay that way. I purchased the 5 year 100,00 mile bumper to bumper with all service included. I got it for real cheap.

what flash revision are you at? Do you have any mods to your truck air, chip, exhaust?
I was getting 16.5 at 3800 miles, got the Oct flash, down to 13. Now at 14 around town 15 on the highway. Good dealer service department. No problems with injectors.

I have a 04/04 F 250, CC, 4x4, Lariet, 3.73 rear end with 265-75-16 tires, I live in PA. in the country very few stop signs or light. aveage speed 45 to 70mph. I only get 14.3 mpg and I think this is bad.
my old Lemon 03/03 F 250 was getting 19/21 befor Ford flashed it and then it went to 16/16.5 all done by hand.

I think they changed some settings on the 04 trucks I get 12.8 on my truck and they cant find any thing wrong, did you do dsb or lemmon law. its hard to figure how so many get good fuel mpg and some dont get any.

I went through a lawyer, under the lemon law. Ford was very good to me, everything was will documented with local Ford dealership, and that local dealership helped me. The lawyer was also paid by Ford motor company.
It was a great truck till they changed the ICP Chip and flashed the computer, then it turned to s**t. many break downs, and 2 major break downs on long Family vacations. # 8 injector 1st time, and Turbo 2nd time, then they could not get power back when pulling 28 ft. 5th wheel, 9000#loaded

Thanks my only major problem is poor fuel mpgs but it sure is getting old. did you have a choice on getting your money back or did you have to take new truck. mine is for work and it is killing me if I go lemmon law I will not want another 6.0 will try to find 2003 7.3 the real powerstroke.

I put 23000 miles on my 03 mostly hauling a 9000 lb. 5 th wheel and getting 14/15 mpg passing all the other brands including the Ford 7.3 up hills and on the level roads, till they flashed the truck.
I went for the trade, because the new 6.0 engine, it has 30 new modifications to it. they just need to improve the mileage.
I now have 4200 miles on the new one and other then the mileage I can live with it. It's working fine.
I think you would be trading down.

I was very happy with mine until the Oct flash. Then I lost 20% fuel economy and as much acceleration performance. I documented it and they said new flash coming out in "mid first quarter 2004". It is past that now. The service advisor tells me that 15 on the highway pulling a lightly loaded 4x8 trailer (under 500#) is great mileage. I called BS. She says call Customer Assistance. I did. I am supposed to get a call from a supervisor in the next 24 hours.
I really like the truck, but the mileage and acceleration I now have is not what I bought. My wife thinks the truck rides better than her Honda Accord.
I don't think I should have to buy a Predator to get back the mileage and performance I bought originallly.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it when my wife asks why I spent $400.

I will have to disagree about the 7.3 not touching the 6.0 my old 7.3 will run right beside my 6.0 when loaded with 12k on trailers the trucks are about the same, when empty the 6.0 is faster, the 7.3 has a few mods, and I WOULD TRADE MY FRIEND EVEN UP FOR MY OLD TRUCK BACK ,BUT HE WONT DO IT. By the way you are right about the mpg, my 7.3 got twice as good on the hwy, as the 6.0.
