95 f-150 4x4 hub spindle nut socket help

I'm having problems removing the spindle nut on my 1995 F-150 4x4 5.8L with manual hubs. All the sockets I have access to are too small. Even though my truck is a 1/2 ton, it doesn't use the 4 post socket tool. I have six slots (need a six post socket tool). I tried one for a 3/4 Ford but it was also too small. I went to NAPA and they didn't show anything in their catalog.

The socket nut is approximately 2 7/8 o.d. and 2 11/16 i.d (inside the nut slots). The hubs are manual and the covers have three torx screws that hold it on. Underneath there are 6 locations that the cover can bolt to.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

There is a special hub locknut wrench that is used to remove the inner and outer locknut. Ford's number is "Hub lugnut Wrench T83T-1197-B".

The 3 screws on the manual hub indicate that the vehicle was built after April '95. They used 6 screw manual hubs before that date.

When I do a search on T83T-1197-B, it seems to cross-reference to OTC7157 (other companies sell that same thing).

http://www.all-tool.com/BY_MASTER_CA...service_26.htm

That tool appears to be what I tried first. Too small and only has 4 prongs. I need 6 Prongs. The 6 prong tool I tried was also too small. I'm beginning to wonder if I don't have some type of aftermarket hubs.

the other day when I was looking at manual locking hubs on Amazon and when it showed what is commonly bought with them it shows the spindle nut socket that you need.

The six prong ones were only used on the rear axle nuts for a short time I think
Possibly used on the front on GM trucks
Made for a different type retainer
One nut against the other (with a flat washer style retainer (where you bend one of the tabs to hold the inner nut in position

just to confirm, the S6109 is for the front hub spindle nut just after the outside bearing on the three screw front rotors on 4x4 5.8L 1995 Ford F-150. Thank you for the information.

No, the 3 screw version automatic hub takes the special thin wall six sided socket
I would have to find that socket and post it's number
I can do that later
