HI just bought a 88 Bronco II It ran fine and the drove it the 10 miles home on the way had a stutter...
Now if I drive it slowly 35-45mph it seems ok but if you drive a little faster it will after a while (5-10min) lose power and not go above 40mph seems like it lacks fuel.
I found then that the fueltank is rusted though in some places.
My theory is that the rust got into the back fuel pump and is not supplying enough fuel to the motor.
Does that sound correct??
i am new to Bronco's so any help would be appretiated.
thanx
I would test the fuel pressure when it loses power, it sounds like your on the right track but I'm think clogged fuel filter or the filter on the intank pump.
Thanx I have to replace the in tank pump any way as the tank is rusted and leaking. it is so badly rusted that you can not get the lid off to see. so i will let you know after this weekend when it will be done
I just replaced the fuel tank and pump as it was rusted, hoping it was the tank fuelpump that was causing the fuel starvation. Started it up yesterday and still the same problem.
Am going to buy a book today to see how to check the rest of the system .
Any help or advice will be appretiated.
When you look at the fuel reservour under the drivers side - whitch is return and supply?
