Bronco 88 questions
I own Bronco 88, 302, automatic transmission, 130k for 2 months and I like to tune up it a little. I need advice:
1. I have only 10 mpg. How to make it 15 ?

2. When accelerating or driving above 65 mph "check engine" blinking.
3. Should I replace Air Filter to K&L Fuel Injection Kit (about $150) and what can I get for this money?
4. What about computer chips upgrades - which is the best for my Bronco?
Any comments will helps.
Thx
I have stock size tires so I was wondering what size yours are? If they're oversize, that'll cut your mileage a lot.
I debated the K & L filter system myself but from the reading of posts from people who bought them I elected it wouldn't be worth it. Too many people said they experienced no difference and I'm the kind of guy who keeps clean Fram's in my rigs anyway so I guessed I probably wouldn't see much difference either.
My Bronco's 'check engine' light keeps coming on too. Generally, when I lift the accelerator at speeds is when it will light up. I'm thinking an O2 sensor but at around $60 to 80 bucks a piece for them I'm a little hesitant in using my standard 'trial and error' approach to auto mechanics.
If you know you're needing a tune up anyway, I'd start there first. As to the upgrade computer chip, there's a post a month or so back from a guy who swears by it and if I remember right his year Bronco was close to yours. He states it increased his mileage from 10 to 16/17.
Hope this is of some help to you
Don't make it a maybe. Replace the O2 sensor and post your milage in a week. It'll pay for itself in a month or two.
