Ok, so you're saying the little white thing on the 4X **** doesn't light up? I agree that's pretty screwy on Fords part to overlook such a small detail. I'm sure in my 01 SD it lights up. However, I was afraid by your original description that not even the 2hi,4lo was illuminated. I guess it's something we'll have to live with. I don't understand how you could get so confussed about the direction you need to turn the **** though. It only has 3 selection and 90% of the time it's turned all the way to the left (closest to the steering wheel) in 2hi. All that's required is one simple click to the right to select 4hi. I don't know about the new system, but in my 01 SD the 4X control switch is pretty "notchy" and falls into the next slot. It's not lose like the thermostat control and easily turned.

As for the mirror adjustment control, dimmer/interior light switch, 12V pwr point, and cigarette lighter not being illuminated I can live with that because they're not illuminated in either my 97 or 01. The radio **** not having it's familar "halo" and the glove box not having a light does tick me off, but I guess I can live with it. However, in all honesty I hardly ever use my glove box.
