big, big problem. last night cruiseing down the highway and all of a sudden ses light comes on, no biggie, so i pull off the highway and as soon as i relese the throtle light goes out so i keep going while as the night goes on the engine starts to all most miss or hesitate or something when accel and all most stalls and sometimes did stall when decel. so i get home and read the codes get P1248 turbo boost press not detected and P1211 ICP press above/below desired. WTF, disasembled all hoses on turbo and filter tray to check for leaks and all was fine. peak in side the turbo all was fine on intake side,is P1211 not something to do with the HPOP. and how does the P1248 come up, from MAP? checked HPOP for leaks or bent lines and all was fine.
Do you have a chip, resistor, or anything else that will affect the Injection control pressure? If not then your ICP sensor probably failed.
Same story with the MAP sensor.
The first thing I would do is reset the PCM. Accomplish this by unhooking the batteries with the headlights on. Leave them unhooked for 20-30 minutes.
If the same codes come back after the reset you'll have to replace those two sensors...... Actually, just doing the MAP sensor might do it. The computer might have cut the ICP back on it's own when it lost the the signal from the MAP.

Not to sound like a total idiot, but was does the MAP sensor do? For that matter how about the ICP sensor? I'm still a little green when it comes to PSD's.
thanks for all your help cookie, were's the icp located my manual does not show, isit right on top of the HPOP? or is it on the head? will check map line better tommorw, have a appointment at ford mon for $80\hr so hopfully I can fiqure this out before then
I got the 1211 code two weeks ago myself. I was pulling a friend's boat.....#4500 lbs. at around 65-70 in a head wind. The truck started to make a hissing sound....kind of like when an air valve is opened just a crack letting a little pressure out. The check engine light came on. I pulled over and took a look but all under hood was fine. Started back up again and it ran fine. The engine light went out when I got off the highway and into town. On the way back, I got a little of the sputtering/hissing sound for a brief moment while accelerating onto the highway. Then the sound went away and the truck seemed to run fine. I cleared the code when I got home and still don't know why it happened......I have not shown a code since. One thing I might add, though is when I first heard the hissing/sputtering sound, the truck did seem to lose a slight bit of power.....I think. BTW I was pulling with my SCMT in the low setting. If you find out any info on this, please post.

cookie, How does a tuner affect the ICP sensor? Mine tested bad a few weeks ago and I replaced, I never got an ICP code, but pinpoint tests showed it was bad.....at least it did run better with the new one in place. $123.00
I have had what feels like a similar problem twice in the last six months. Per my own diagnosis after spending $360 chasing rainbows at the dealer, it came down a bad alternator! I don't know if the alternator has an idiot light when the voltage goes low, but when the batteries are drained down to 11V all sorts of weird codes appear (hence $360 chasing a rainbow). Changing an alternator is a 5 minute job on a 7.3l diesel. Just do it! Mine failed at 93k miles, which I believe is typical.
ALT does not even have 20,000km yet so i don't belive that it's bad, but checked the map hose and it is clean. waiting on a map from ford, as cookie said i will start with that. i belive that that is a code from the map. I think the ICP code was because it had just stalled.
o.k replaced MAP, still same problem but it's really starting to get weird. It seems that every time i start the engine it run's different, like some times it will miss and wan't to stall and does stall then it's a real pain to get it going again, then other times it will start and there won't be any power at all, if you give it gas it sounds like it's being choked of fuel and or air, then all of a sudden it will just kick right in and go, at just know on my way home it ran beautifull??? and still other times it's like there's know turbo and when i give it the SES light comes on then when i let go of the throttle it goes back out???? mabey something to do with the high press oil?? or mabey fuel?? or maby turbo???
