Thanks for the info!!! I just bought some new tires for my 2001 X PSD at my local dealer just the other day.
Anyways, I just called my dealer "Henry Day Ford" in Salt Lake City, Ut. They confirmed the recall but said that it hasn't been officially released so when it is they will credit me for the tires I bought. Awesome!!! Thanks again for the info....
I put 4 new tires (Yokohamas) on my Ex a couple of months ago. I just called the 1-800 number listed on the FAQ on the Bridgestone/Firestone web site ( http://www.firestone.com/news/index....tx/040226b_rel ), and a vey nice young women answered the phone and took my contact information. She said that Bridgestone/Firestone and/or Ford will be contacting me within 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, I didn't put on any of the "official" replacement tires, and I've got an unused Steeltex spare that I'd like replaced - I just don't want one of the "official" replacements...
YMMV,
Randy R...

For gasoline-powered Excursions, Ford recommends 45 psi front and 55 psi rear. For diesel-powered Excursions, Ford recommends 50 psi front and 55 psi rear. In addition to these inflation pressure recommendations, some Excursions also have a label (located on the inside edge of the driver’s door) allowing for a lower inflation pressure for “improved ride” under light load conditions and giving instructions on proper use of that setting. Ford advises customers that the “improved ride” setting does not apply to the replacement tires and, therefore, the label will be removed when the tires are replaced.
My 2003 Ex 7.3 PSD calls for 45 front and 55 rear, same as the gasoline powered ones. I don't have the AT's being recalled, I have R4S's. The stickers inside the fuel door and on the driver's door jam both say 45 front, 55 rear. Is this the improved ride levels mentioned above?
I am going to try to trade up to the BFG All-Terain T/A KO's and just pay the diff. I hope it works cause they are what I was going to put on this summer anyway.
Otherwise I may go with the Scorpions as the Rugged Trail are not quite what I want for off road.

Does this just apply to the R4S tires or to all Firestone tires? Becuase I've got 3 of the original 5 (with 75,000 miles) on my X and I'm really looking to get rid of them.
Had a blow-out on my left rear tire about a year ago. Scared the crap out of me (was towing my Weekend Warrior Trailer at the time.) Damage was well over $1000.
Replaced the tires with BFG's after that. Only one I have is the spare still. It's up in the rafters in the garage. Went with slightly larger tires (original rims) but, wanted a larger spare so I wouldn't damage anything if I had to run it.
I left a message and will get a call back from Corporate Firestone as well.
I don't normally like to go after companies as I understand these things happen but, the crap in my pants left a rash on my back side that I am still a little bitter about
I talked with Firestone yesterday and they gave me the names and numbers to a couple of places near me. I was told to stop by and let them confirm that I have the recalls and they will replace 'em on the spot. I then called the dealer and they are only replacing with Perelli (sp) or Goodrich. I have to wait 2 weeks for the dealer because they ordered the tires and have to wait for shipment.
If you go to FIrestone dealers they are replacing with Steeltex load E rated tires or BFG's. Ford dealers have the choice of BFG's or Pirrelli. I myself am going to be putting on the BFG's. They are a little better tire in my opinion than the Pirrelli.
