i just had my 292 rebuilt.but after a few miles i`ve developed an intake leak.i`ve tried tightening it down and it helped, but did`nt go away.should i order a new one or would you use form-a-gasket?
i need more info. are you absoulty sure you installed it correctly and torqued it down in the proper sequence and at the right foot pounds? is it a vacum leak and burning oil or what.
well as i said before i just had it rebuilt, so im not sure how it was tightened down.but i`massuming it wasn`t right so could you please tell me the proper sequence.it`s making an ear piercing whistling noise.when i sprayed it down with soapy water it bubbled right about left center on the intake.also the whistling would temporarily stop.
Left center. Is that the heat riser part of the intake? How many miles is a few miles? What are the casting numbers of the heads and intake? Generaly you start in the center and work your way out in a criss-cross pattern.
well i didnt know you had someone else rebuild it for you you didnt say that. first i would do is call the dude that rebuilt it and ask them about it try to get them to fix the problem since they screwed it up id be real stuttorn about doing that. i dont know the intake torque sequence for the 292 i just know the one for the FE. what i would look for a shop manual or a Y-block manual. you dont want to just wing it and guess on the torque sequence it could permanteley damage your intake. if you cant get the place to fix it then post back here and ill give you the info on how to do it with an FE but you will be taking a risk. thats exactly why i always do my own work i simply dont trust people with my truck.
