ok, im a little surprised. i got around 15mpg on my first road trip with the new BFG MT KM's 285/75/16. my truck is stock 3.73LS 5.4L. I was getting basically the same mpg with the old 235/85's i thought for sure i would be down to 12mpg. i drove 255miles and only used 17gallons @ around 70mph. just felt like sharing my excitment hahhaaha.
Your new tires are at least 1"+ inches larger then the old ones, did you have your CPu recalibrated for the larger size? Otherwise how can you tell how fast you are really going and what the true mpg is? I would do this just to avoid the speeding tickets, because your speedometer is going to be slow, FWIW.
You might find you are getting even better mileage!
You must have a lot more traction on slippery road surfaces with the new BFGs. I drove an Excursion in 2x4 mode with a set on ice and did not even have to use 4x4, it was awesome.
no i didnt have my CPU calibrated, and those tires are no louder then the stock General Ameritracs or BFG AT KO's. i am being very honest, for such an aggressive tread, they are surprisingly quiet. couldnt believe it myself. i had the BFG AT KO's on my last truck so i can compare them. same noise level. maybe after 30k they might get loud, but as of now....quiet and an unbelievable soft ride...true story
