I have Firestone Destination M/T's (285/70/17) on my '05 F-250. They seem to have less road noise than some other mud tires i've ran in the past. I have a pic of them on my truck in my gallery.

Have you looked at the Toyo M/T? Most everyone gives them two thumbs up.

Have had mine on my '99 F250 for two weeks now. Drove on dry highway, rain, snow and ice in that time and I really like these tires. Comparing them to the half worn Toyo Open Country AT's they replaced I would say:

Pros---Better snow and ice traction (was a little worried about the ice traction but can honestly say the Firestones grip the ice just as good if not slightly better than the Toyos did). Rain grip was awesome also. Plus these tires look way cooler and really transformed the truck from your run of the mill Super Duty.

Cons---Slight hum between 40 and 50 mph. Hum goes away after reaching interstate speeds (getting quieter or is that just the wind noise finally overcoming the hum? ) Regardless, they are no louder than the Toyos on the highway. Also, at parking lot speeds you can actually "feel" the large lugs rotating around, almost a washboard feel. No big deal but takes some getting used for a guy that has never had MT's before. Also, not sure what the affect on mpg will be if any, but if it's any indication as to the rolling resistance I have noticed a definate difference when I turn the steering wheel now--it is easier! This may mean that the Toyos' siped edges were grabbing better, or I am not sure of the reason but the wheel does turn with less resistance. I would say that means there is less friction so these tires may actually be better, or at least the same considering the weight difference of the two tires (I am sure the Firestones are slightly heavier than the 285 Toyos), so I dont think I will see any difference on that front.

Regardless, I love the tires. I love the look of them (305/70-16's fit perfect without any suspension mods at all on my truck). Havent had them actually off road yet, but based on reviews I have read I would say that is where these tires really shine. I got them because I wanted my daily driver to also be my weekend explorer/hunting rig, but also for the cool look! I'm not dissappointed yet.

I've seen a few trucks in my area with both the Firestone M/T and the Dayton M/T. I have to say they are a great looking tire. I don't know how they perform, just thought I'd add they look great. Bridgestone also makes an M/T thats similar but they cost more.

had a set on my last truck a 2500 and I loved them. good traction low noise. when the stock tires are gone on this truck it gets either them or the bridgestones.

I have had the Firestone MT's (285 75 R16) on my truck for a month now and i can't complain one bit. They are fairly quiet compared to my procomp xterrains on my summer wheels and they vibrate less. Haven't had a good snow heer yet, but with a dusting, I had to try to slide with them. I give them an A+ so far.

Only time I've come close to being stuck was in soft sand with a steep uneven climb. Ended up steering the front end around til the lugs caught a rock and pulled me up. Climbed many hard packed steep walls in 2WD with no problems, very stable on dry pavement, fairly quiet.
They're decent in the rain, don't like to get traction at low speed but thats expected with no rain sipes and so much torque. Haven't gotten to test them at all in the snow this year but soon enough. In the end, I'm happy with mine.

I just put Hankook DynaPro M/T RT03s on my truck and I love them. I don't have any snow time on them yet though. Wet, dry, squirm, noise, etc. is all better than the Cooper S/Ts I took off. Old size was 265/70-17. New size is 315/70-17. No problems at all other than slight shimmy (not DW) that was fixed by Skyjacker dual stabilizers. They cost less also.
Pics are in my gallery.
Hope this helps,

Later...
Brewster...
