I have a 1981 F250 4x4 with a 351W. I drove it to a friends house shut it off and when I came back out it would only click. I checked the battery, it is good even tried to jump it. I changed the sylonoid, battery cables, starter, and altinator and it still just clicks. The starter seems to not be getting any power to it. It is a one wire starter, with the one wire coming from the sylonoid. PLEASE HELP.
Welcome to FTE!
Is the ignition switch loose or stubborn? It could be the switch, but if you have a voltmeter you can check downstream (starter side) of your solenoid and see if it's getting power.
Also check your engine and chassis ground.

I assume you are talking about the ignition switch? Just for the heck of it, wiggle it (the switch ) as you crank the engine. Those things can go out for no reason.
I would take a piece of hefty wire or a screwdriver and with the truck in neutral or park, jump across the solenoid as see if the starter turns over. If the voltage at the starter is good, but still doesn't turn over, starter is probably bad. However, I'd bet on a bad ground on the solenoid switch.
I tried to jump strait from the sylinoid and it did not turn the starter. The starter is brand new that is on there. I was thinking about running a ground strait to the starter and see if that works.

Did it spark at all when you touched the terminals on the solenoid?
Yes I got good spark when I tried this and all I got was click click click. I am take a multimeter this weakend to see if the starter is getting power to it. Can I run a ground straight off the starter to the frame?

Seems like it would be easier to make sure the engine is getting a good ground. You can't beat direct bolt-up for grounding.
I guess if you felt it necessary, you could jump the starter directly with jumper cables to see if the starter is good. Just make sure the transmission is out of gear or in Park and tires chocked.
Did you check chassis and engine grounds? Sounds like a faulty starter or bad cables.
Take the starter back off and hook the pos bat. wire to the starter and touch the starter to the neg. side of the battery.
If it don't turn you got a bad starter.
I went through this about a month ago.
The easyist way to fix the grounding problem would be to just replace the ground cable from the battery with a new one. just hook it up on the engine somewhere. make sure there is a good clean connection where you connect it to the engine.
The ground wire should run first to the chassis with a bare section and a clamp then terminate at the block. That is how they were done from the factory. Yours may be different. Be sure you have a good solid ground from both the chassis to the block and battery to the block.
