Are the nuts used on exhaust manifold nuts different then a normal nut? I replaced one of my studs when taking down my exhaust because the nut is totally frozen on it. I have a new stud from ford and i took it to a hardware store to find a nut for it, they had nuts that would start on the treads but then tighten up right away. I don't want to strip anything and i need a nut for it. I know a new nut form ford is 7 dollars and I would like to avoid that. thanks in advance for any help
I always use "brass manifold nuts", they are brass, and generally are longer than a regular nut to maintain strength. Being brass, they don't "rust" to the stud.
