Man, its a-coming slow. Part of it is that its the busiest time of the year at work. Then I'm rounding up all the parts. Its coming though. I'll be picking up the tranny friday, then I'll have to rebuild it. I'll be up and running for the bog at the end of the month though. Can't wait to have a four speed in there. Went with a twelve inch clutch so I'm not worried there. Dropped the pan to check the torque on the lower assembly and think I'm going to stuff in a Canton racing pan with a full baffle, windage tray, and crank scraper while I'm at. Figure I can use it. Thats about it, 'cept I got an itch to get an old riding mower and see what damage I can do. Wonder who I've got to blame for that?
Get a cub cadet . . . take the belly deck off! It improves ground clearance, reduces weight, and keeps the wife from trying to get you to mow the darn lawn with it.
since it's getting a stick, I assume your putting the mogs in soon?
I know a guy in our club who ran a 79' F-150 on 40's with 60's, 5.13's and ARB's.. I guess with a C-6 it was fine breakage wise, but once he went to the 435, it would really shred the parts, with only a mild 429 pushing it. I'm not taking about 2nd gear clutch drops either, it was more like 1rst gear taking it easy through swamps. It seems it's alot harder on driveline parts with a stick, just puts so much more power to the ground.
But it's all worth the first time you side step the clutch for mud racing. I know I get excited everytime I do a 3rd gear low range launch at 5000rpm when the flag drops.
Autos are much easier on the driveline cause you cant produce near the shockload(unless you do neutral drops).
maybe thats why i keep breaking stuff im addicted to 5500 rpm 2nd gear high range sidesteps....i love to watch my front tsl's throw clumps 50 feet in front of me
i would be scared to put mogs in pro's truck(unless he went to a 40 or sumthing)....i think with the torque and the weight ...you would be blowing portal boxes constantly....if he does anything, i would just slap rockies in there
just to be clear...im not going to high steer, just crossover with an arm on top of the passenger side knuckle.
reason being since i pushed my axle foward, the crappy stock steering only allows me to turn waaaaay right, and no left.
I needed to change it anyways
i wont go to true histeer until i can afford some dedenbaer knuckles or sumthing.

what?????? i thought you had an arm and all ready to go? why not? i think you should!
my bad everyone....din't mean to cause mass chaos!
The C-6 actually isn't in bad shape. I'll end up either selling it or swapping it for other stuff. Yea, kept it simple and my regular cross-over works just fine. I had thought about eventually going with some crane or dedenbear knuckles then switching over then...but since it works fine I'll leave it alone untill I bust a knuckle. Ho's pic looks pretty much like mine, except I don't have all that pretty scratch free paint or blocks either Yea, portals would be cool but I would tear them up on my rig, like Ho mentined. Truth be told, I'll probably never update my knuckles, either. I always figured the next step is rockwells. I'd actually like to build another truck like mine, but use rocks, coils, and a link suspension. Gotta build a real shop first though..I've outgrown my garage. I'm thinking rocket's right...I'm gonna have @ another 80 horse getting to the real wheels (losing the c-6 and some other tweeks) and I'm taking bets what I tear up first. I just call it "proactive weak link testing". Figure it will be in the driveline...I'm running one ton but its not one of Jesse's....yet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I love it!! The 1/2 ton running gear doesn't. I never thought I'd see the day when 36"s tore up an open 9" in the mud. I can't wait for the 44 to go.

Well.......its a viscious cycle. Cuz once you step up then you'll wish you had Rockwells, etc. I'm kinda afraid to build a rig with Rockwells because I'm not entirely sure where I would go from there once I got bored with it...
