I have been cruising thru the post trying to figure out whether or not I can remove these V8/V10 badges. I know there have been several posts about it...how about just one more. What is the best way to remove them if possible and are there any kind of alignment holes in the metal?
There are no alignment holes on the engine badges, just some hell-strong adhesive.
I just put some on, so telling you how to get them off wouldn't be my area of expertise. HOWEVER, I am going to take the X off of the XLT I have on my rear door. My plan is to let it sit in the sun for a while, get some WD-40 and some dental floss. Spray it down and run the dental floss behind it to help break the bond.
I don't know if it'll work but I'll let you know how mine comes out.
we had one of our 99 E450 with the decals on it and when it got hit in the front left fender, we used a heat gun on the back side with the fender off and pealed it of and stuck it on the new fender.
but if you are just throwing it away, use a heat gun right on it. or a hair dryer. get it real hot and peal.

Use fishing line instead of dental floss. I apologize to whomever suggested it, but I can't remember.
According to the replies, the fishing line trick worked great!
