Just finished adding the 05 front end to my 02. Bought the newer powerstroke door badges. I used fishing line to remove the old emblems. Worked really well. Have not cleaned up what was left of the emblem tape so I can see the old emblem outline.
For those that have put on the newer powerstroke badges how did you go about placing them? The newer badge is not as long as the old emblem. Looking at it, I was thinking of placing the new badge as far back on the door as the old one and keeping the bottom of the badge at the same height as the old one. Looks like that would get it pretty close to how the badge is placed on the 05-07 trucks. Have not been close to a newer truck to grab some mesaurements.
That is the way I placed mine, but actually, the badges are closer to the front. They are inline with the trim on the door. I left mine alone since it didn't really bother me (like some other things) and most people don't even know the difference.
I'm about to make my badges all chrome anyway (using the acetone technique). I would like to have the "XLT" back on it after I'm done though. Has anyone that cleaned theirs have a suggestion on how to put that graphic back??
i just did the acetone on mine about a month ago and the xlt is painted on with all the other black paint. i guess you could paint it back on. The best way i fount to do it is remove the badges from the truck and pour a little acetone on to it and let it set for about 10 sec. and use an old tooth brush and it comes off in about 30 seconds.
Thanks -- what did you use to reattach the badges? I was just going to tape up around them and do it on the truck, but it would be a lot more tricky. I just thought it would look cool with chromed out badges with the red XLT on there.
3M double sided tape, youll need some 3M adhesive remover to get the old tape crap off. i didnt want to risk the acetone on the paint so i pulled them off and they aren't the easiest things to get off and i did all of mine even the power stroke badges on the doors.
There's bound to be a way to get the XLT back on there easily. I'll see what I can stir up. My Dad does screen printing, so maybe he can make me up a screen to shoot some red spray paint through. Just an idea...
just a thought, how about your mom, girlfriend or wife's fingernail polish. that and a shot of clear should do the trick.just use a steady hand and paint it back in the clear will keep it from fadeing out

On the 2007 dually, the front of the badge is 2.75 inches behind the seam of the door, measured at the top corner of the badge. Hang the edge of the tape in the seam between the mirror plastic where it meets the door, and the top of the badge is 15" below that.

You don't need to buy 'em. Acetone takes the paint off and viola... New chrome badges! Just be careful with acetone near you paint, or remove them to clean and reattach.
