Looking for recommendations for an aftermarket nav system for my Expy... a quick search on eBay shows them all over the place for pricing, etc. I wouldn't mind a portable one that could go from my truck to wife's car, etc.
Check out BassProshops....They have lots of GPS navigation devices....Most are adaptable to cars...The GPSV is for a car, there is a PDA version with touchscreen and voice prompts, and a more expensive permanent mount one...
I've got a Garmin StreetPilot III Deluxe. Got it from www.gpsdiscount.com (cheapest place I found). Way cheaper than any in-dash system plus it can sit up on the dash like a HUD, not down in the center of the dash. It's portable. The system is very user friendly and very accurate.
My van came with an Alpine indash with GPS nav so i have not looked at portable units. However I am very happy with the information on the latest version of their software.
Here's another vote for the Streetpilot III Dlx, and I also got it from GPSDiscount. I leave it down low in the small bin in front of the cupholders in my 03 Expy, setting it on a rag or beanbag to help it sit at about a 45 degree angle. It also comes with both a very good temporary beanbag dash mount and a stick on quick-disconnect mount. Garmin also has a newer touchscreen model. If I had a few grand to throw away then I would get an in-dash DVD/GPS Nav with retractable 7" touch screen from Kenwood or Pioneer.
