This is for the 2008 in my sig. I got a Ford OEM deflector off Ebay, but it came with no hardware. I know this deflector is supposed to be attached with screws and brackets, whereas there are aftermarket deflectors that attach with 3M tape only.
I noticed on the mounting tabs of the OEM deflector some 3M tape, unused. My question, has anyone mounted, or know if the OEM deflector can be mounted using double sided foam tape only (no drilling, screws, brackets, etc.)?
I would really like to use this deflector and have checked with the dealer who says the mounting hardware is not available separately.
i too have an 08 escape. i just ordered side window vent shades, splash guards, and hood deflector from ford today. they will be in next tuesday. i will check back on this post when i get all the parts. if you still need an answer, i will post what i have, and what i learn in putting it all on my wifes escape. -billy
I haven't done anything with the deflector since I found out it needed hardware. I would like to use it as I believe it would fit better than aftermarket.
i just got the parts today.(im sorry it took so long to get back to you).in the box, there is 6 mounting screws,2 small brackets(for the ends of the deflector,)2foam pads that stick on the2 center bolt holes of the deflector, and 4cone shaped rubber contact bumpers for on the top side of the hood between the deflector and the hood. you have to drill 6 holes in the hood underside to mount the deflector. i hope this helps you out.-billy
Thanks Billy. That's what I was afraid of, got mine on ebay and no mounting hardware came with it, except the rubber cones. Don't know what the previous owner did with the screws and brackets.
I just wonder if it would stay in place by using foam tape on the mounting tabs .... probably not.
