Originally posted by dinebito just curious here... but... wtf is 'double trailering'?? are you really towing a Trailer, THEN another thing behind the trailer?? i've seen big semi's w/ multiple boxes being pulled before... is it the same thing? interesting. how the f would you ever backup? oh well.
YUP, I have see a few 5ers towing boats. Where allowed it only for 5ers, not regular towbehinds.
Backing up is done by disconnecting the second trailer. That is why you mostly see small stuff being towed.
I knew I would probably mislead someone, I won't double tow witha 40ft trailer. if I go there the boat stays home or follows in another truck. we only use the boat mostly locally, but occassionally we go to the lake 5 hrs away for a week, every once in a while to lake powell 650 mi.but I don't think the boat is in my retirement future, so for now I can scale down and double tow like v10 does, or go bigger with the seperate garage toy bobring the bikes, fxdwg&gl1800)and let someone else bring the boat.I just got too much crap.and I always bring at least 1 toy.
Before you buy, think out every scenario.......desert with the toys.........Powell with the boat...........whatever............Set up your rig so that you can do whatever you please. If you ever plan to pull doubles, get a fifth-wheel that is no longer than 28 feet. You can get alot of room in a 28 footer with double slideouts. Then you can pull your boat or an enclosed utility trailer with the quads, sandrail, etc. I've even seen a crew-cab dually with rack above the cab with motorcycles on it, pulling a fifth-wheel with a boat behind it! That's having your cake and eating it too!
