If you use a flowmaster 40 series you'll get a thoaty, raspy sound. If you go with a Gibson then it'll be a little quieter and a smoother tone. If you get a magnaflow muffler it'll probably sound kinda like the flowmaster. So if you want deep and throaty go with a flowmaster 40 series or a magnaflow. If you want mellow and smooth go with the gibson. You might also want to check out Dynomax. Also, Midas offers Ravin exhaust products now.

Hey, another muffler I would look into is the Aerochamber by Hooker headers. I have a set on my car and love the way they sound. It is a v8, but i have heard flowmasters on a car with the same engine as me and I prefer the sound of the hookers. Just another option, go with whatever your heard desires and wallet can handle.

Borla exhaust also makes cat back exhausts for rangers, i'm not sure if they do for your ranger but you could try looking one up.

If it were me picking one i would either go for the Borla exhaust or the flow master exhaust, then magna flow, and last gibson,

i like deep rumbly exhausts
