Usually oil shows up in the fuel filter if it's the o-rings.

Did this just start recently?

It might be the oil seals going out in the turbo. Any oil dripping out the tailpipe?

Is that the synthetic brand? I know most guys around here that run Shell use T-6.

I hope it's not the piston rings. Are you running an aftermarket air filter? The factory air filter box is prone to not sealing like it's suppose to. That's why many install some type of aftermarket air filter.

Any modification to the EDV, engine decompression valve, on the drivers side valve cover? If you dont have alittle vacuum in the engine the oil rings dont seal properly. How does she run? Hitting on all 8?

Are you still running the original injectors and o-rings? Does your oil get black soon after a change?

My truck was smoking kind of heavy when you would get on it with just a tad at idle when I first bought it at 142k and I was adding a quart about every 800 miles. I was puling 8-10k almost daily. I was told that if I did not have a visible leak that I should replace my injectors or the o-rings at a minimum. I could not afford injectors at the time so I replaced the o-rings. Oil consumption went way down.

The guy that suggested it said that the only thing separating the oil from the fuel is an o-ring on the injector and that o-ring gets exposed to 500-3200 psi on one side and 50-70 psi on the other. If it o-ring leaks then usually oil gets pushed into the fuel and then burned after injection. There are 8 that can go bad.

As for the oil being cleaner afterwards he did not have an explanation for that....

I got an additional 60k out of those injectors. The original owner did not take good care of the truck.....
