IMCA Hobby Stock?

Anybody here race IMCA Hobby Stock or any other division of IMCA?
http://www.imca.com/

I use to several years ago, but went belly up on funds & walked away.
Due to this post by muscletruck7379 has got me interested in it a little again. So I went searching to see what the rules are, because they change quite often & can't seem to find them on the net anywhere.

Perhaps someone here can shed some light or tell me where to go to get the current rules for 2003-2004.
Maybe it they aren't to strick, I may have to build a car for the 2005 season, a Ford ofcourse.

According to IMCA's website they no longer are posting their rules on the internet but you can order rules from them.
Check out www.imca.com

It's fun being the only Ford on the track here
We aren't IMCA but I think our rules are pretty similar to their Stock Car class or maybe closer to their Late Models.

The track I race at has a website.... www.kermode.net/speedway

Yeah, as far as I know I am the only Ford on my track too. 1993 Tbird with a 351W. I know I was the only Ford last year at another track as well. This year we are at www.i70speedway.net

they changed our late models to IMCA rules a couple years ago, and I think they suck!! every body has to use the same spec motor, so if there isn't 2 grooves in the corner, it's choo choo train racing, cause everybody has the same amount of power, so they can't pass on the straights like they used to when they were NASCAR sanctioned. Driver's get mad cause they are faster than the car in front of them, but they can't get by on the straights, so they end up using the crome horn, which gets them kicked out of the race or causes fights in the pits

Super stock class. Steel 'stock' bodies. We are allowed plastic nosepieces only.

I saw that. I'm ordering the book to see what the rules are now, but thought maybe someone had a little inside for me.
Anyways, I know there aren't many Ford's on the track. I'm not sure why, buy I assume it has something to do with the frame. That is just my assumtion though.

The only reason why I'm choosing IMCA is because the town I will living at when I do this will have 3 track that I can race on in a weekly schedule.
one is 30 miles away that races on Friday Night.
Another is 20 miles & race on Saturday Nights.
The last one is 45 miles & race on Sunday's.

These are the IMCA sanction races. If I could set it up to where I could run all 3 tracks on a weekly schedule it will help sponsorship.
Out of three there is only one I'm really worried about. The other drivers at that track have a reputation to make engine claims against new driver. But being out of it for 10 years, I think I won't have a problem. I'll just take the first year easy to get the feel of the tracks, the car, & the other drivers. Then hit it full throttle for the second season.
I'm not planning on going back in till 2005 season. This will give me a little over a year to get a car built, & I'm actually wanting to build 2 cars. That way I have a back-up just in case of an accident or I get claimed.

parks, that is the main reason my local tracked changed to IMCA..all the tracks within an hour from here are IMCA, and the owner of the track wanted a bigger car count cause they IMCA guys could come here to race for points. This track is the only track around here that races sunday nights, so it's good for someone that is going for the points championship. even so, there are guys here that did not switch to IMCA, and the closest NASCAR or UMP sanctioned track is 2 1/2 hours away!! they drive that every weekend, and a couple of them drive it friday and sat night both!! One driver(or maybe his crew) drives 2 1/2 hours to race sat night at a NASCAR track, then comes back and changes motors so he can run IMCA here sun night...and he does it about every week....that's dedication!!

Hang10 what chassis do you run? What sort of engine mods?
I run a Crown Vic chassis with a fiberglass T-Bird body. 351W as well.

Everything is stock, body and all. Except the motor and transmission. We are restricted to 2bbl carbs, stock heads etc. The only thing we can do is headers, cams and intakes. I am running the 351 with a semi built C4 and an 8.8. As far as the motor goes, I have an RV cam for some torque, a Victor JR. intake and not bothering with headers. This is my first year on asphalt and haven't finished the car yet. Last year I was on dirt that ran an 'open' class. I ran a built I6 in an old Ford Coupe. Not only the only Ford but the only 6. I had my motor 'claimed' after winning 7 features in a row. Basically, they were PO'd that some guy that wasn't in their "good old boy" GM network, was mopping them up with an old junker Ford coupe and a 6 cylinder. Plain black car, with a white 'X' on the side (X is my number) made the pretty, painted up Monte Carlos, Camaros, Buicks and T/A's look stupid. I was uninvited to come back this year. End of that rant. I am still steamed.

I haven't tested this Tbird yet, it isn't done. Having second thoughts. Maybe I should have gone with a 302. Oh well, time will tell. Do you have pics of your car?

I'm wondering about your choice of an RV cam with the Victor Jr.
I think they are going to work against each other.
You have to run stock heads like me but does it say what kind of stock heads? I run stock GT40-P heads off an Explorer. I have a Weiand Stealth manifold and a fairly mild cam compared to everyone else. The right combination is very important. I only turn 5800 rpm so the engine stays together and I still have more power than the guys I race against
There is a pic of my car and some of the cars I race against at http://www.kermode.net/speedway/2003...hotoshobby.htm . I'm the #55 in case you cant tell which is the Ford

Most tracks have a rule that they can "claim" your motor, or entire car for a certain amount of money. In essence, they give you the money and take the motor, or car. If you refuse the claim, they take all your points, make you repay all your winnings and strike you from the list as ever having won. In my case, they pooled $750.00 and took the motor. In return, I got to keep my trophies and the $3,200 I had won in the heats and features. However, I was done. That was the only motor I had.

Nice ride. I went to our rules and was going to cut & paste but it's PDF. Here is what it says. "Heads must be the original or exact stock replacement. Absolutely no work allowed to heads". The motor isn't totally together yet, what cam/intake would you suggest? If you want to read the rules, be my guest Maybe you can find something I missed. www.i70speedway.net click on driver info, then the link for super stock rules.
