Help Needed

Those with a shop manual or a ford tec please help me.
I am looking to remove the speed limiter so i can better my 1/4mile at the track on thursday. I feel that i can cut off a few .10's if the truck doesn't start to lose power at 98 mph or so.

I believe i should be able to splice a wire to a switch and turn off the speedo from the tranny. I just need to know the color code.

And last but not least, I know alot of you dont understand why anyone would want to race a big work truck well ..... i cant explain it but racing is in my blood from matchbox cars to F350's
competive i guess. SO PLEASE HELP A BROTHER OUT!!!

asked our tranny guy at work and he said you can't disconnest the speed sensor or the tranny won't shift properly you'll have to get a chip with the speed limiter raised or removed alltogether

Yea I figured it was heavily computer controlled, now let me put this option out there. If i hook up a switch and only shut off the speedo, say at 80 or 90 MPH when its already shifted through all gears???

This is an option i am willing to try but i dont have the access to the color codes and dont want to cut all those wires one by one plus it would be very hard to hide 20+ cut wires. I have 12years in the mobile electronic field and used to be certified( now i am just certifiable!) mecp. So if i can cut off the siginal you would think it would disingauge the speed limiter. Worked on my frontier. But this is a different animal!!

Thanks for all your help

My guess is if the speed were suddenly turned off like you say, the computer may go into some kind of fail safe mode and cause all kinds of wierd things to happen to your transmission. It may even unlock your tranny. I think the most prudent advice was given, get a chip.

I already have the edge attitude that does not controle the speed, just eng. mangmnt. If someone knows of a inline plug in for the tranny please let me know.

The wiring diagrams are in the 6.0L bible. You might find your color codes there.
