im looking to raplace the clutch in my truck. its an 89 f 150 4.9L with the mazda 5 speed manual tranny. what brand clutches would be good for this? i was looking into ones like centerforce, hays, and luk but i dont know which is best. i only do highway driving to and from school and work, so i dont need a real heavy duty racing clutch. if you can help, please let me know. thanks, john
I've installed genuine Ford, Dynapac, LUK and cheapo rebuilt clutches. I would stay away from the very cheap rebuilts but otherwise the others all seemed ok. I don't think one is better than the other. I think for your type of driving a Centerforce would probably be overkill. Not to mention probably very expensive. A Dynapac is nice because it comes as a kit with a new release bearing and usually an alignment shaft.
