I really hate the way my truck shifts. It's so wishy-washy. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd, it kinda hits an in between spot where the revs come up and the truck is pulling but then it shifts on into 2nd and "locks up" like it should. Also the shift from 3rd into o'drive is anything but a smooth transition. It kinda revs before going into gear unless I've really got my foot in it. Are ther any mods to take care of this? This transmission was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago (just before I bought the truck) and has shifted like this since I got it. Thanks in advance for any help!
Alright, FastFreddie, I finally installed my Sonnax Valve/Accumulator spring kit.
Wow. Well worth the money. Nice tight (not overkill) shifts, timed nicely.
As usual with Autos, very messy, lots of fluid splash and stuff. Be ready for a gusher when the filter comes down. Some previous trans experience (which I have) would help.
Accumulator pistons were difficult, but not impossible.(Be ready to PULL) The instructions are very good, and it's not a bad job. In addition to the tools they say, have some very small needle nose pliers or a small hook tool to get the retainers out. Otherwise, piece of cake and impressive results. Highly recommended to all.
