please let me know what shocks for the front and rear for E150 is the best. are the Bilstein shocks worth the price? they are 90 a piece!!! are there any cheaper alternatives? towing a 6 by 10 enclosed...
The Bilstein heavy duty truck shocks are great units. I have had these on other trucks/vans and loved them. When I got my Clubwagon I decided to try the KYBs and really liked them too. Now I haven't had the Bilsteins on my clubwagon so I can't make back to back comparisons but I really do like the KYBs on it. I tow a 5000 lbs trailer regularly with it.
You can buy the Bilsteins at http://www.stranoparts.com They can get the KYBs there too. Oh, and the KYBs are probably half the price of the Bilsteins.
I would also recommend a bigger front swaybar and a set of rear helper springs. The front bar, rear helpers and KYB shocks made a huge difference in the ride and handling of my 150 Clubwagon.
I have an E-150 conversion just over 90,000 with stock shocks. I am looking at the Edelbrock IAS shocks. Has anyone one tried these. My uncle had them on a 2002 Astro and says he Loves them. They also have a lifetime warranty to boot. Any help on the subject will be appreciated.
What model KYB's are you all running? My 93 E150 at 95K still has the OE front shocks on it. Getting scary to drive. Feels like I have a 3ton weight on the roof. Everything else seems tight, so I am going to try shocks first. Had real good luck with KYB gasadjust's on my cars.
I put on a full set of Monroe REFLEX shocks and it really helped handling. I tow a 27' trailer with my E150 pushing the limits for weight, so any help is welcomed. I think I paid around $45 per shock. you have to shop around for a good price, Sears and NAPA had the best prices.
