busted hose

my friend has a car that keeps busting upper radiator hoses. what could be the casue of this....stopped up, rad cap pressure, i stumped.

It could be anything. What is near the rad hose that could be possibly hitting it. Maybe fan or the alternator fins? It could be to much pressure as well.

Do you have any idea how long the hoses are lasting? Something is amiss for it to keep blowing them.

well, he bought the car off a guy whos aid he jsut rebuil thte engine and it had new hoses on it. he ran i for a probably bout 100 miles and it blew. then i put another one on it for him and he told me it just blew again. probably 50 miles

Not normal. Replace your cap and then see what happens.

I'd have to suspect the head gaskets.

Yeah, but this sounds like an awful lot of pressure. It doesn't seem like you could get that much unless it was coming from a cylinder.

Actually it's not uncommon for radiators to fail at the hose connection area due to pressure surges. Are you losing coolant before the hose goes?
