Driving home tonight and I blew a turbo hose off.....so i thought. Pulled over and sure enough there was the hose on the turbo outlet blown off but the clamp was at an abnormal angle. It cracked in half on the band and only the staple was holding it to the hose.
I would caution anyone who has taken the clamps off and on numerous times to check for stress cracks in the clamp band. Especially around the series of holes that circumvent the clamp.
That or carry some extra hose clamps in your tool box............Wish I had thought of that last night!!!
The torque spec Ford uses (11 ft-lb) is beyond the clam manufacturers spec. I've bent the bolt on one of these clamps getting it to Ford's spec. Since then I go about 75% of spec.
Snapped one of my clamps and blew the hose off of the turbo outlet at approx. 2800rpm's and full boost while towing 40ft toy hauler on I-87 in N.Y. state on upgrade! makes a really nice sound when it blows! and scares the heck out of the family and dogs! clamp split in two at one of the pair of holes mentioned! thanks! Ford!
