i was looking under my hood and saw the 'ECC TESTER' was unhooked. it's on the left side in the corner of the firewall and left fender. what is this thing, and is it bad if a elf connected it and he can't get it undone? -wb
uh.. the elf hooked the dangleling cable connectors to the receiver labled 'ECC TESTER'. there was to cables not hooked up, one was a big red plasic one w/ multiple metal inserts that go into the receiver. the other was a gray plastic one and it was a single insert connecting into the same receiver as the larger one. the ECC TESTER is made of black plastic.

Are you driving this bronco? The E.E.C. test port is simply that, you plug in a tester and run a diagnostic on the E.E.C. The other plugs you are describing sound like fuel pump relay connections. They go into a black box attached to the air cleaner box, that is actually a housing for the relay connections. If you are driving the bronco and it is running, your lucky!! You could short something out. I am not sure if your year has 1 or 2 fuel pumps, I will check a book later and tell you what it says the other connectors are used for!
yeah it was just a cover. i got them apart when i was waiting to go to class. the receiver is just plastic, there wasnt any metal in it. thats a relief. but what are those cables for? they are just hanging there. at times like this i wish i had a digital camera. -wb

There are the E.E.C. testing port which you are now familiar with, there is also a fuel pump test plug to jump the fuel pump, atleast my 87 has it, there is a trailer light plug over there. Mine are labeled from factory. You coulda had a real nightmare on your hands had the terminals shorted. That bronco would of stopped bucking and the show would of been over there broncobillybob!
Call a good exterminator and get rid of the elf's!!!
