Ok,I guess I am still wondering if I can get an adapter for my harness to a 2000 or 2001 mirror(they are different).I am wondering where to get just the wiring for them, and the yard I am getting the mirrors from only is getting me the mirrors they do not have the truck.Am I correct in assuming the mirror itssself is the same with the ecception of the harness? Please help clarify.
Yes they will bolt right up. And you use the same mirrior control switch If you can't get the adapter wiring you should be able to just solder the wires together. Provided you can figure out witch wires to use. If I had read your post origanal post before I installed mine. I would have took some pictures of the wiring adapter. I can get the door panel of tomorrow and get a pic of the plug. Provided the weather is good.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-May-02 AT 06:03 PM (EST)]Here it is the plugs for the mirriors.
The wires are pretty easy to see and are almost color coded
So soldering them straight together shouldn't be too hard if you don't have the adapter.
note: the top left pic is of the new plug (grey one)

I watched the net for anyone that found a good way to hookup the heat for the mirrors if it wasn't prewired and found no results. I finally found a time delay relay from a industrial electrical supplier of mine that has a 12 volt timer that works perfectly. I bought the timer, 11 pin base and a button and led from radio shack. All said, I spent about 60 bucks. The timer works on the single shot mode and has latching relays. It uses a momentary switch (from radio shack) to start the circuit. I set the timer for 8 minutes, but you can set it from anywhere from 1 second to hundreds of hours. It defrosts the mirrors great and shuts off automatically. I can send you the part numbers for the timer and base and where I got them from and send you the simple hookup, I used the power wire going to my power point/cigar lighter.
Well YETI, don't forget that those mirrors stick out like elephant ears also. Yesterday I smacked a temporary road construction barrier with the outer two inches of the mirror at 55 mph. Pleased to report that being FORD TOUGH, it snapped back against the side of the door with only minor damage. (The convex section at the bottom popped out and had to be snapped back in.)So be careful when approaching fixed objects, these trucks get even bigger with these TT mirrors.
I put a set of those chrome covers on mine to help absorb the impact, they only cost $79.00 if they break, the mirrors are over $700.00. Sorry.didn't see the date on this thread.
If you haven't found one yet, the timer is made by ABB, part number is TRDU12D3, and if memory serves correct the base is NDS-11. Google it and look under galco.com's site.
