I doubt anyone will trade their TT for small mirrors but you could check with your dealer and see if they will "upgrade" to the TT...If your truck is brand new... and you paid a mint for it... they might cut you a deal.
I recently changed mine over to TT and the pair cost me $260 from my dealer and it was worth every penny
Well YETI, don't forget that those mirrors stick out like elephant ears also. Yesterday I smacked a temporary road construction barrier with the outer two inches of the mirror at 55 mph. Pleased to report that being FORD TOUGH, it snapped back against the side of the door with only minor damage. (The convex section at the bottom popped out and had to be snapped back in.)So be careful when approaching fixed objects, these trucks get even bigger with these TT mirrors.
Im pretty use to them, my 99 f350 has them on there. Now it's all good, when I drive either truck, I don't have to get use to the mirrors for the first 10 minutes.
I will however, be removing them in the winter when the plow goes back on.
Need to get close to buildings and fences, and I think I would knock them off the first snow.
Yep and be careful when going to bank drive threws can get awful thight on those old mirrors to no story just take my word for it.take care and happy travels
>I think I want them now too. I just never thought about it
>till now. About how long did it take to swap them? Was the
>wiring the same or not?
Hey man real easy about fifteen min aside and yes the wiring just unplugs from the old onto the new.just a few screws in the door panel and it seems like theirs three bolts that hold the mirror in place just make sure when you remove your door panel you lift stright up dont pull out oh and their is one more screw hiding behind that red lense at the bottom of the door just pop the lense out and you will see it.take care and happy travels
It sounds like the way the van doors come apart. I've gone in them to retighten bolts a few times. (the camper style mirriors)
I just gotta get the mirriors first!!!
I was wondering if I wanted to chance my fixed dual arm electric mirrors to the telescopic dual arms if there is a wiring change from one to the other?Second question is can you buy the wiring only.I can get the mirrors from the local salvage yard, and would only need the wiring if different. Thanks in advance for any help.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-May-02 AT 08:24 PM (EST)]I just got mine today!!! http://www.plaudersmilies.de/jump.gif
They had come with a rectangular shaped plug with a adapter plug to two other plugs. One went to the exsiting plug and the other one goes to the heated mirrior plug if you have the rear defog option. When you get them out of the boneyard/salvageyard truck you would most likly see the extra plug in there.
And like said above they were easy to put in.
So now I got to ask another question: Has anyone wired up their own button for the heated mirriors on these??? And do they use 12volt or a reduced amount of volts?
EDIT<<< LOOK EVERYONE they got me updated FTE COOL!!!!!
