I have a 96 Explorer w/ the 6 disc CD changer. I put the changer into the player and when I tried to play a CD, "No" appeared on my radio. I assume that means "No" CD, even though the changer is full.
Also-I try to eject the changer cartridge and it wont do anything.
wallyguy: I don't have the CD changer, but I have had this problem with the normal stock CD/Cassette player. It would read NO CD, and when I tried to eject the CD it would not come out. This still happens here and there, but usually only when it's really cold out. I don't have a resolution for you other then to either take it in to get fixed, or to replace it. I hear usually to fix the CD player, Ford charges about $200-$300 dollars. For that price I'd just buy a new one.
Of course others might be able to give you another solution.
I am in MN, so if -10 is cold enough, then that might explain it. I hope there is some sort of solution besides a new unit. Plus-I would like to get my CDs out of there!
Yeah -10 would do it for my CD player. Usually if it's below 15 to 20 degrees, mine will do this until it is warmed up. Once the X & CD player are warmed up, I am able to play the CD and Eject it. So try getting the X to a good running temp, then try playing & ejecting the CD. May take a couple tries, but always works for me. Hope you get this issues resolved.
Yea...my display went out on me so got a replacement radio off of ebay. Luckliy, I only had to cut out a small piece of plastic that was part of the original frame where the old radio was. The new one fit very well. I also got to keep the AM/FM CD/cassette features too.
Check out this site for your CD problem. It may or may not help but I used it for my display problem and it was quite helpful: www.shareamemory.com/radio
