it's [ tile clad hs] and it's about $48 per part and it takes to parts that covers about 600sq' I swear by it I do alot of welding and mechanical work in my shop the only thing I have found to hurt it actualy stain it was old thick grease from a jeep I worked on. the welding and air arc left a couple tiny spots but my floor is blue with a broom finish to prevent slipping, that also helps to hide some marks .I did about 1500sq' of my shop it cost me about $400+ but I think it was money well spent.
How well do you think it would hold up to the steel wheels on an enginh hoist or stand? I have both and don't want to waste time painting my garage floor if it is going to flake off from my normal abuse.
I found using laquer thinner on oil and grease spots not only pulls the oily stuff out it drys up good when you are done. Makes clean up for coating easier IMO.
I used old scafolding with steel wheels to finish the sheetrock on the ceiling, the only problem I had was where I ran over a sheetrock screw it left a tiny chip. I also talked a good friend into it by throughing a junk turbo on it again a tiny chip. this stuff is repairable
You can repair chips in an epoxy floor coating with 5-minute epoxy. Just check to make sure that it is mixed right and that it hardens properly. I bought some consumer grade 5-minute epoxy once that wouldn't harden, -what a mess!! Now I check every tube I buy before I use it to make sure it is good. If you have access to industrial grade epoxy I would suggest it before the homeowner stuff.
I have tried a few paints and epoxy coatings over the years. We just built a new house with a 3 bay detached garage. I wanted the "real deal" this time because I have had disappointments with the others. I found the company who supplies and treats floors for car dealer service bays and Jiffy-Lube oil change stores. They are http://www.concrete-floor-coatings.com/concrete.htm The stuff is amazing. It has been down about a year. There is minimal wear where I park my superduty and no wear where my wife parks her 4-runner. We have a long stone driveway too, so the tires are always tracking in various stones and running over them. If we had paving, it would be flawless I am sure. I have left oil and grease on there, a week later it wipes off. It is slick when it is wet but I like the shine so I did not add the grip (sand) stuff. It is some work for prep, but it is real epoxy and real good. My garage floor is 25x35 and it cost around 400.00 to do it all. They provided EVERYTHING even tape for the molding and masking. Let me know if you want to know more.
p.s. my floor looks like the one on the web site, nice sheen and all.
anyone have suggestions for what i should use to paint my garage floor? i've heard of companys that make certain products specifically designed for this purpose but i cannot remember their names.
Any one looking for a garage floor coating I ran across this web site http://www.originalcolorchips.com
They have many options that allow you create your own custom floor. Check it out. They are very helpful if you would like to call or email them to find out more about their product.
My buddy had his floor coated with an urethane coating, his father in llaw is a painter and recommended this stuff even over expoxy. I dropped a claw hammmer and didnt even phase it.
