Greetings, all. I just bought a 1989 F-150 ext. cab and need to replace the front seat. What other years have the same brackets and therefore interchangeable? Thanks!
Not a problem at all if you dont mind spending a little cash. you have a few choices used, new or aftermarket. I myself had to replace the drivers side seat bracket on my 1990, I have the captian chair type seats with middle console. I looked all over for a good used one close to me with no luck so ened up buying one from Ford it cost me about $145.00 . Or you can look online like i did but all I found was the same bracket sold by a seat dealer for about same price but I would have had to pay shipping so dealer was my choice. As far as years 1980 thru 1996 are about the same only difference being the 1992 and up 40/20/40 seats, the difference is there are small washers under the outside 2 bracket feet that bolt down to floor. they are spot welded in place to make sure seat sets level because of center seat/fold down console but those can be drilled out and cut off if need be. if its a bench type seat you shouldnt have any problems getting a used one I would think it just depends on what you wanna spend on the ol' truck.
Thanks, men! I think I have good brackets, just a worn-out seat, so I kinda "mis-titled" the thread. It's an extended cab with a straight bench now, so replacing it with 60/40 or a 40/20/40 will probably be the way I go. If I'm replacing the seat, I might as well make it easier to get in the back.
Knowing that I can put a 1980-1996 1,2 or 350 seat in it gives me a place to look on eBay, etc. I will probably just look for a package deal that will bolt in like you did, Andy. I saw a nice 1995 60/40 one on eBay that wasn't too much moola, so I'm feeling good about the options!...j
