shop floor coating

I am giving serious thought to coating my 20x26 garage floor. Any thoughts? I've seen it all advertised and am wondering what others have done. Thanks

There are several threads here on floor coatings that can be found by the search function for quick information.

Cheapest way is to go with one of those epoxy-based systems found in the paint aisle of your local Home Depot. They hold up well enough, and are a relatively inexpensive do-it-yourself solution. If you're looking for something more serious (and costly) do the search like Torque said.

I used the Rust oleum brand in my wifes garage and it didn't hold up but they did send me some more to redo it with haha chips and all But I put the industrial grade in my play garage and it is holding up very well after 5 yrs I used white it makes it easyer to see as you get older haha

Why alot of paints and sealers fail is because moisture is coming thru the cement from the ground and a vapor barier has to be laid on the ground before the cement. An epoxy type would be better but not a total fix.

I'm the second tennant in my garage, and the previous owner parked a dog (liked to mark it's spot) in there. I tried as best I could to get the spot up, but its in there and not coming up. But I figure, it's a garage, not a museum. I just got a gallon of cement sealer and rolled on two coats. Every spill wipes up nice and easy now. Doesn't look that great, becuase the spots are still there, but like I said...it's not a museum.

That UGL Drylok is supposed to get right into the pores on the concrete and seal it up. I didn't know how durable it would be but it sounds better than epoxy.

If you use epoxy after you mix it and the stand time you better be ready to put it on because you don't have much time to do it I didn't think my garage floor was that big till I had so little time to paint it and try and not get dry joints

RedNeck, does the cement need to be etched w/ muriatic acid before Drylock is used?
