My 2001 Psd 4x4 tranny started shifting funny doesn't want to go into 2nd gear it will go after 3000+ rpms the overdrive light is blinking. Truck has 35,748 miles on it and still under warranty I took it to Ford and they said the tranny is toast but because the truck is lifted with big tires the warranty is voided.
Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get Ford to help me or I'm I on my own?
Gosh, I don't know if putting on extra big tires voids your warranty, but go find a buddy with a set of normal wheels and trade him for a couple weeks. A tranny overhaul is going to cost you upwards of $2500, or maybe more. It'd be way cheaper even to buy a cheap set of tires and wheels . . . . .
My tire size is 38 x 15.50 x16.5. I would try putting the stock tires back on but it would be a dead give away because the truck has a 8-9 inch lift kit on it
I did the gears when I did everything else (4:56)
Yeah, but without the big tires/wheels, they'd have a hard time not doing the warranty work and getting away with it. If you don't mind looking silly while driving it there
Ford had a problem with the trannies for the year of 2001, mine went out at 20,000 miles. a re-build from the factory was put in, that had adressed the problems they had. The good thing was, it was covered under my warranty!
