I don't even like country music all that much, but this one speaks, er, sings to me!
It's 5 o'clock Somewhere
The sun is hot and that ol' clock is movin' slow
And so am I
Workday passes like molasses in wintertime
But it's July
Gettin' paid by the hour and older by a minute
My boss just pushed me over the limit
I'd like to call him somethin'
But think I'll just call it a day
Chorus:
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
Well this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon
And half the night
Tomorrow morning I know there'll be hell to pay
Hey, but that's alright
Ain't had a day off now in over a year
My Jamaican vacation is gonna start right here
If the phones for me
You can tell 'em I've just sailed away
Chorus:
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
I could pay off my tab
Pour myself in a cab and be back to work before 2
At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder
What would Jimmy Buffet do?
Jimmy Buffet spoken:
Funny you should ask, Alan
I'd say
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
He don't care
And I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
Alan: He don't care
I don't care
Together: It's five o'clock somewhere
Jimmy: What time zone am I on?
What country am I in?
Alan: It doesn't matter
It's five o'clock somewhere
Jimmy: It's always on five in Margaritaville, come to think of it
Alan: I heard that
Jimmy: You've been there haven't you?
Alan: Yes, Sir
Jimmy: I've seen your boat there
Jimmy: All right.
That's good
Alan: Stumbled my way back
Jimmy: OK Just want to make sure you can keep it between the
navigational beacons
Alan: Between the bouys.
I got it
Jimmy: All right.
It's five o'clock.
Let's go somewhere
Alan: I'm ready.
Crank it up
Jimmy: Let's get out of here
Alan: I'm gone

Seems to me there's very few musical styles existing other than country right now that lend themself so well to passing on great wisdom in a well crafted song.
On of the newer ones i like is Alan Jackson-Remember When. There's something about that song that makes me feel sad.I like that new one by *****,but i can't remember the name of it.Something about hanging in Texas.
Yep...I like em all. All types that is. I like all types of music. Country, Rock, Hard, alternative, Some Rap...I don't LIKE every song out there or even every singer just something from every type. I had to listen to Caruso, you know the opera guy while I was growing up. Didn't care for him maybe because my Mom made me listen I don't know but the older I get the more I understand that it's what's "in" the song that counts. ivanribic maybe thats why you don't like this new stuff. Some of it's empty. Myself I have 4 kids and 3 grandkids with a 4th on the way so I went out of my way to try to understand my kids and their music. You and I know that music can play a big part of your life when you're growing up. I'll tell you up front. There's a lot of it I can't stand. In fact my youngest daughter and I don't come anywhere near eye to eye on the music she listens to. I've even had to ban some of the stuff she's brought home once I heard it. That being said I do have one thing I can't believe you said you don't like. Shania??
