wow. i just saw a Nickelback video on MTV the other day. i like Nickelback, even though they are canadians. just kidding.
the video was for "know who you are" or whatever name the song has, and they CENSORED some of the words!!! i mean, really.... its NICKELBACK their music is as in-offensive as it gets.
but yet rappers can say whatever they want in their crappy music. i bet if the bands skin color was a few shades darker they could have gotten away with the lyrics "too many long lines in a row" and " i love the powder on your nose" or " i love the dirt upon your knees" yeah im pretty sure those are the lines they deleted from the song. ( nickelbacks song )
ok now im not advocating the use of cocaine, ive never used it and never will, and dont believe that anyone should. but how many times does Eric Clapton say "cocaine" just in one song? or Tom Petty singing about " i was in love with a girl on LSD "
by the way i really like tom petty and eric clapton... just using them as an example.
We are censoring all the wrong things these days..... whos going to fight in our wars when the country has no MEN left in 40 years? who will defend the country then ?
hope i didnt just start a thread war, i just needed to express some concern here. oh yeah dont jump on me for the Canadian joke, it was simply that
So you hate Canadians, EH?!?! Look at my avatar. Just kidding man! I had to do it.
I know what you mean about them editting everything. It's crazy. There are certain words that should maybe get editted but some of the things they edit are stupid. Oh well. Life goes on!
I love Nickelbeck. Saw them in concert twice. And one of their CD's is almost always playing in my truck stereo. But I can understand them censoring that song, because it is VERY dirty. I'm very surprised to hear that they actually made a video for it.
That reminds me of the older rock stations in the Philly area, I don't know if they were grandfathered in but the do not censor ANY song. As compared to the newer stations that play the same songs and do get censored.
I have heard that song on the radio numerous times and if I remember right it wanst censored at all. There a DFW area stations, Ive heard it on 971 and 1021.
"I love your pantz around your feet, I love the dirt on your knees, I love it when you're looking up at me saying 'Please'..."
I hate censorship and I hate people deciding for me what I can and can't watch and in no complicated terms pretty much saying that we SUCK as parents and since we can't do our jobs right, they have to do it for us....
I also agree that we are simply breeding a weaker, overly sensitive culture with all this shielding.
yeah, i here that song here all of the time, and i pick up vancouver and victoria bc radio stations, and cant remember hearing them edited. but yeah, it is a pretty dirty song
The censoring on TV is actually the TV stations them selves doing the censoring. So maybe it is simmiler in the radio world. The stations censoring are possibly trying to prevent a talk with the FCC if they think it is an offensive song.
I cant stand mtv becuase the music is **** poor at best. They show rock music at 3 or 4 am and what they do call rock / punk is good charlote and simple plan and is more pop but they can show they same rap viedos all day and all night all they do is cut out the cuss word but the context and all the half naked girls are still there but when was the last time anyone saw a godsmack slipknot etc on mtv.
I think they edit out all drug related materials. Like, the word "hash" out of weezers song "hash pipe" or "**** pipe" as MTV puts it at the bottom of the screen. But all the seually realated material in all the rap videos is still in the videos and never edited.
