Good Song
Just thought I'd post the words and see if you guys like it.
Its by Josh Turner and entitle Long Black Train
There's a long black train
coming down the line
feeding off of souls that are lost and crying
rails of sin only evil remains
watch out brother for that long black train
look to the heavens you can look to the sky's
you can find redemption staring back into your eyes
there is protection
and there is peace the same
burning your ticket for that long black train
cuz theirs victory in the lord say
victory in the lord
cling to the father and his holy name
and don't go ridin on that long black train
there's an engineer on that Long Black Train
Making you wonder if the ride is worth the pain
hes just awaiting on your heart to say
let me ride on that long black train
theirs victory in the lord I say
Victory in the lord
cling to the father and his holy name
and dont go ridin on that long black train
well i can hear the whistle from a mile away
it sounds so good but i must stay away
that train is a beauty makin everyone stair
but its only destination is the middle of nowhere
theirs victory in the lord I say
victory in the lord
cling to the father and his holy name
and don't go ridin on that long black train
I say cling to the father and his holy name
and don't go ridin on that Long Black Train
yea watch brother for that long black train
that devils drivin that long black train....
Now if the song were about a long black Ford, rolling down my drive . . . feeding off of Honda's with a 460 inside . . . that would be my kind of song.

There's only a couple of country artists I like any more . . . Alan Jackson, Tritt, Clint Black. Okay, there's my gripe about modern day country.
There used to be a lot more "gospel" in country music, it's making a comeback and I'm glad of it. I previewed the rest of Josh Turner's album but didn't buy it, still thinking on it though.
Have you heard Randy Travis's "Pray For the Fish"? That one is good, not really preachy just funny.

"The Baby"
My brother said that I
was rotten to the core.
I was the youngest child,
so I got by with more.
I guess she was tired by
the time I came along.
She'd laugh until she cried,
I could do no wrong.
She would always save me,
because I was her baby.
I worked a factory in Ohio,
a shrimp boat in the Bayou,
I drove a truck in Birmingham.
Turned 21 in Cincinnati,
I called home to mom and daddy,
I said "Your boy is now a man."
She said "I don't care if you're 80,
you'll always be my baby."
She loved that photograph,
of our whole family.
She'd always point us out,
for all her friend's to see.
That's Greg he's doing great,
he really loves his job.
And Ronnie with his 2 kids,
how 'bout that wife he's got.
And that one's kinda crazy,
but that one is my baby.
I got a call in Alabama,
said come on home to Louisiana
and come as fast as you can fly.
Cause your momma really needs you,
and says she's got to see you,
she might not make it through the night.
The whole way I drove 80
so she could see her baby.
She looked like she was sleepin'
and my family had been weepin'
by the time that I got to her side.
And I knew that she'd been taken,
and my heart it was breakin',
I never got to say goodbye.
I softly kissed that lady
and cried just like a baby.

I think turner has a good voice for country, just don't care for the song. Country music has really gone for a ride on the long black train. If I didn't have an MP3 player in my truck I'd toss the radio out the window. Waylon, Hank Jr, Travis Tritt, those are guys I could listen to all day any day. Shania?
What is this world coming to?"Rollin' down a backwoods, Tennessee byway, one arm on the wheel. Holdin' my lover with the other, a sweet soft Southern thrill. Worked hard all week, got a little jingle on a Tennessee Saturday night. Couldn't feel better, I'm together with my Dixieland Delight" - Alabama
