useally as of late i havent had that problem of recycling. my truck has done it for me. over the summer i cracked my heater core and the anti freeze pretty much was gone by the time i got it fixed, then last week right before the cold hit i thought i blew a gasket on my gooseneck, turns out my chrome alumm gooseneck warped on me ( thats what i get for buying a cheap china made aftermarket part) but that pretty much drained the antifreeze out the 20 miles driving home from work, but i got nice new antifreeze in my truck now just in time for winter.
I simply let it run out to the gutter in the street. There is a crack between the curb and asphalt and it soaks in quite nicely. With all of the water I use to flush etc, it is rinsed down quite well, and finished with more/less untainted water.
My local sewer district tells me to pour it down the stool then flush. The bugs in the sewer plant sludge tanks eat it like sugar, -yum yum. It is very biodegradable.
Most sewage plants can handle antifreeze just fine, the bugs love it. Check your local treatment plant to make sure. Sometimes antifreeze overloads the bugs, kind of like too much fertilizer.
Dumping it in the gutter is dangerous since it is very poisonous and very attractive to dogs and kids. Just a tablespoonfull will kill a medium size dog or kid.
