Well.... I put my truck in a ditch last night, let me tell ya, that is fun!(sarcasm ) It snowed here in Portland, OR the night before then cleared out and got really cold.
I was driving home from work which is about a 14 mile trip, and there was nothing up until the last 2 miles. I was only going about 20-25 when I hit some black ice, but that didn't matter, apparently my truck had a date with the ditch. No one was hurt. I guess about 2 mins before that happened to me it happened to another guy directly across the road.
I had to wait till 3pm today to get a tow truck out there to winch me out(it was a chevy unfortunetly).Luckily nothing was damaged, not a single scratch on the truck. Man I wish I had 4wd!
Well, congrats on hte no injury and no damage. I ahve hit black ice a few times, been rather scary. Have not seen any serious ice or anything had a good snowfall but nothin stuck. my gals first time to see any snow, she has yet to see it aon the ground, anyways, we will prolly get some snow on the ground here in a month maybe 2
i went into the ditch one time. pretty embarrassing. i had 4wd, but the tires were stock, and bald from dropping the clutch @ 3,000 rpm.... just so happens i was suppose to be getting my new 35" BFG all-terrains pretty soon to when this happened and it could have saved me some embarrassment.
it was an ice storm the whole night while i was working 3rd shift. i drove home just fine in 2wheel drive, but got tho the last turn for my street and then it happened... i slid slowly at 4 miles and hour *sideways* there was nothing i could do but prey the truck wouldnt roll over... ditch was kinda steep
so i had 2 tires off the ground, and 2 touching, if i had the 35"s i coulda gotten out... cause all 4 would have been touching..
anyways a guy in a ford f150 gave me a light pull, and out of the ditch in a second.
even though that truck was a dodge i miss it somedays... 2000 Ram 1500 extended cab, short box, i put in a 3" lift, 35" BFG's, 4:10' gears, edelbrock headers, dual exhast, jet chip, k&n filter, the only time that truck got stuck was listed above.
a few weeks ago me and a friend were going down a pved road and hit pure ice and the truck "1997 ford ranger 4x2" spun n a circle and headed for the ditch and hit a light pole, it bent the front bumper in pretty bad and a dodge had to pull us out.
