radiator support interchange
I read somewhere that there is a difference between the radiator support from 77 to 79. Anyone have idea if it's true or know the difference. I need to find one for my 77 f150 and would like to have the right one.
Thank

73-77 core supports have the holes for the headlight buckets in a different place then the 78-79 supports. This is because they use different headlight buckets for the 2 different grilles. They are the same other then that, and you can drill new holes for the buckets.
Last year I helped replace a radiator support on a '76 F150 390 4x4 and the 'new' one was different (not sure what 73-77 it came off of). The mounting for the radiator was different. The '76 support had a 2" flange for the radiator to mount to (appeared factory) - moving the radiator 2" closer to the engine. So we had to drill out the spot welds and weld this 2" flange to the 'new' support for the rad and shroud to line up correctly. All worked well and appeared factory when done - just took some extra time.
Might be due to different engine or radiator options, I'm not sure.
