460 Radiator Woes
I have a 77 F150 2WD Trailer Special, It is a factory 460 / C6 with AC and dual batteries.
The radiator went bad so I went and got a new one from the parts store. The number on the box is 433545. The radiator looks right except the brackets on the sides are different and it won't physically fit in my truck. That number 433545 is the correct number for my application according to quite a few parts stores I checked. My truck still carries its original paint and I am sure the core support is original too.
My truck has 2 brackets that are welded on to the core support that are not present on my 75 F100 360 truck's core support. My original 460 radiator bolts to these welded-on brackets whereas the replacement radiator from the parts store has brackets that would only bolt directly to the core support, like the 360 radiator does. I tried that idea but the flanges on the new radiator are too wide to fit in between the brackets, though it looks like the mounting holes would line up to the main part of the core support itself if the brackets had less material on the flange.
This new radiator has bigger tanks than the 360 version and looks just like the original 460 radiator except for the side bracket differences.
Interestingly enough, the side brackets fell off the old radiator when I removed it, as if someone had this problem before and swapped the side brackets. It looks like they are just glued on anyways, but I don't want to ruin the new one by heating/prying the brackets off of it.
What I need is a source / part # for a correct radiator, alternately I can have my old one recored at a radiator shop. I am going to return the new one tomorrow.

But I don't feel I should have to hack up my truck; I'll try to find a radiator that fits even if it means having the original recored.
This is the Ford number.
The old worn out Original rad should have numbers on it
The Rad you now have (545) is a 3 core rad not an original 4 core
The rad you took out is special in the way it mounts and the way the shroud fits to it.
24 11/16" (core height) x 26 1/4" (core width) x 2 5/8" core thickness
I'll try and find an aftermarket number for you.
EDIT to add:
That number you have keeps coming up for me as well.

It isn't the 4 core Super Extra cooling rad though

After looking up a few different years and engines, we looked up a radiator for a 1976 460 F150 2wd application and sure enough it listed the bracket configuration as mid mount, which is what I needed. The part number for that one is 433480.
The parts book listed the 433545 as front mount, and both radiators had the same core size.
We took a chance and ordered it.
The 433480 FITS! For informations sake, the 433480 and the 433545 are both 3 core designs. I don't know if my truck originally had a 4 core but this radiator fits the truck and fits the shroud perfectly.
I guess my truck is an early 1977 model and takes the 1976 radiator.
