How to remove chip

When I bought my F350, it had a BD Power chip installed. When I pulled that chip out, the truck would not start. Now, maybe I had pulled the computer out of its connector or something, but is there some trick to removing the chip if I want to put the pickup back to stock, or if I want to use a tuner?

Thanks,

John.

Did you remove the battery terminals before you did this?

You do not have to have the batteries disconnected to pull the chip. You do, however, have to not have the keys in the ignition.

OK, I didn't have the keys in the ignition.

So, when I pull the chip, should the truck still start and run?

I just always thought you had to disconnect the battery to do that. I was told that by BANK'S. Sorry Yellow, Thanks Cookie you saved me some time the next time I do this!

Yes. Just like stock.

Are you pulling the whole PCM, i.e. using a 10mm socket and unplugging the wiring harness from the engine compartment, or are you just pulling the black plastic cover off the PCM and removing the chip from in the cab?

Also, when you removed it the first time and tried to start, did the Wait To Start light illuminate?

Don't remember about the wait to start light. There is no black cover, just the gold colored add in module (chip). I removed the screw using 1 10mm socket, and actually tried to remove the PCM. I suspect that I partially unplugged it. I didn't know for sure how to remove the PCM, and pulling on it didn't remove it, so I gave up on removing the PCM, and just removed and replaced the chip. I was pulling the chip to see if there were any other identifying numbers on it (there weren't). Still haven't heard back from BD Power. I guess customer service isn't one of their strong points.

Since whoever installed the chip threw the cover away that 10mm is the only thing holding the PCM in place. The bolt is built into the connector, so once it unthreads all the way the plug will slip off with little resistance.

I've heard that.

Did the truck start with the chip back in place?

starts just fine with the chip in place. I'm not driving for a while. The freezing rain here in Oregon has shut down pretty much all transporation. Prettty amazing stuff. 3-4" of snow with an ice crust on top of it that you can walk on.

Removing A TS 6 position performance chip from a 2000 Ford f250 powerstroke

my husband recently bought this truck that is honestly a piece of junk, but it's a 2000 Ford f250 powerstroke, it came with one of those horsepower ts 6 position performance chips with the installment box inside on left side of his steering wheel with the switches that say high , 75 pH, 145ph, or whatever else. And truck is so rusted it's just talking apart leaving us without transportation period. And I'm needing exact, word for word directions on how to remove this ts six switch installment performance chip kit , due to having to try an part out truck. Because the truck won't bring nothing being sold all together.
Please someone help me with some instructions and how difficult is it to remove it. Thanks in advance
