using a TS chip without a selector switch

Just as the title suggests. Has anyone tried running a TS chip with no selector switch connected to the chip at all?

I've heard that you can unplug the switch and the chip will stay in whatever position it was in when the switch was pulled out and run fine. I just need confirmation it works.

I need to pull my chip out and swap into Cody's truck to help diagnose some issues, but I don't want to pull my selector out of the instrument bezel b/c the bezel is already broken and will probably not go back on if I pull the bezel out again. Anyways.. if anyone knows if the chip works or not without the selector, I'd appreciate the verification before I waste time finding out.

Well, I have a tune on a TS chip in my E99 that only has one tune and no selector switch. I also have 4 tunes in a chip in my 97 that when I go past the 4th position, it holds to the last tune (4th position) programed in the switch. Not exactly the answer to your specific question though.

It's been forever since I had this talk with one of the tuners but I thought without a switcher it would default to tune #1.
It should work fine in his truck Travis but as to what tune it will be on is anyone's guess right now. Have you tried emailing one of the tuners to ask?

Not yet. I will try to this week. Hell Brian may know, I have to call him again this week anyways. If it defaults to tune #1 thats not going to work.. I need to run either my street tune, heavy tow tune, or drag tune in his truck. Those are position 3,4, and 5. Lol

On a side note. If anyone has a selector switch you either don't want or want to let me borrow for a week or so, let me know. I'd appreciate it.

I ohmed out a switch one day for the fun of and it and I thought the #1 position on the switch was an open spot and 2-4/6 made contact....SO....if you left the switch unhooked it would default to whatever is #1.

On edit...Just went and looked at a couple I had in the tool box. The 4 pos. has 3 wires to the switch and the 6 position has 7 wires to the switch, so I think a 6 pos chip needs to be hooked up to the switch to work.

Chase and Diesel Rod are correct. Without a switch, it defaults to the #1 tune. I need to order a new spare switch ASAP.

Unless you want to play with different positions, just put your tune you want on #1.

Let me know Travis where you get another switch, I also want an extra.

Would you do me a favor, and please let my wife know that I can, in fact, be right?

As soon as I can convince my girl of that, I'll get started on yours... I tell her things in text messages, then she acts like I never said it. Even showing her a screenshot or showing her the message on her own phone doesn't prove that I'm right... She sure pays attention though when I send her a pic of me walking into Sears or Harbor Freight cuz she knows a few hundred bucks just went into more tools. LOL I sent her a pic today of my new ball joint press and master adapter set. She sent me a pic back giving me "the look".. LOL
