Cool Distributor shaft play?

How do you know if your distributor shaft has too much play? I have a Duraspark II disrtributor from a 80 F150 302. If it has too much play how do I replace the bushing?

Thanks,
Clayton

Good question. I was bored one day and took out the bushing in an old distributor. It took me awhile to figure out how to get it out. The problem is trying to find a replacement. I still am not sure what it is made out of.

I think I would get a replacement distributor before I went to the trouble. The older ones had a oil cup to get some oil to it. Also they had two bushings. Later on they went to one. I have found gunked up varnish way up inside to cause drag.
