All I can say is what's with electing movie stars to political office? I suppose Arnold will be headed to the White House next following in Ronnie's footsteps!
Well I guess it beats electing a pro wrestler like Minnesota or a political crook like Illinois!
Gotta admit, I have never lived in CA but I sure like to visit!!
The biggest problem with California is the freakin actors who think they have a legitimate reason to spread there ridiculous views, and have the fine tuned media to do it with. Not all Californians are bleeding hearts and homos. Mostly in the small towns of No Cal, you will find some sensible hombres.
The state itself is a diverse environment from ocean to high sierras to desert. There's just too many people who moved here from other places like Ore, mont, ida, colo, flor, and Mexico etc.
If we could put a muzzle on those panzi entertainers, perceptions might change too. (george loonie and barbara streisland etc)

A Nevada state representative received a lot of flack for suggesting Nevada be renamed 'California East'. We get 6000 new residents a month and 4000 are from CA (DMV stats). They complain about everything from having to stand in line at the DMV (want more government) to smoking being allowed in Casinos and always end their comments with 'like it is back home'. Their sheer numbers will eventually turn Nevada into CA East.
Sinjin, I've lived all over California and SoCal is not exactly the culteral center of the US. It doesn't even compare to many NE burgs. It wasn't until recently the population of 24 million or so could carry a full opera season at breakeven cost. San Francisco is a real city, the city is truly diversified and reeks with culture, but the surrounding suburbs resemble SoCal. NoCal
has some nice smaller communities, but all are chained by the dominace of SoCal's political clout, which has dug them a great big financial hole. We're next, I see where a group of 'concerned' citizens is comparing the acreage of public parks per capita to CA and whining for more. They're probably including the ocean parks, so I guess that'll be a really big bond issue in order to form an ocean during the current drought. But hey, they want it just like 'home'.

Not allowed. Naturalized citizen is OK for a state post, but the pres has to be a natural born citizen.
georgedavila, I feel your pain. I am a californian but live in a small town on the eatern sierras. The "insulation" of the big mountain has been all that has kept me from being sucked into the vortex up until western nv's "growth" into another californian suberb. I have always felt that the only thing that made my town a part of cali was the taxes. Now I feel that I'm surrounded. YIKES.

Well George,
I read recently that Congress is looking into legislation to change that too......
And sinjin, we do have culture here in Colorado. Not as flashy or plastic as Hollywood, but we certainly aren't cave dwellers. I'd invite you to see for yourself, but you might decide to stay!

D
I haven't heard that. Do you know who's sponsoring the possible legislation? The trade-off for support of that is going to spend some big political bucks. Is it for consideration of Arnie to run against Hilary in 2008? Based on Regan's excellent choice of staff and CA's electorial votes, it would make sense. The downside is that Regan had a solid economy to work with, not recently a Repubican feat. Maybe looking for heavy federal money going to CA would be a clue. Another reason to bash CA.
Not sure who, if anyone, is sponsoring this legislation. If I remember correctly, they are just looking at the potential ramifications of changing the 'natural born' to naturalized.
Personally I think it will be political suicide for those that support the change.

Ditto for Washington.
Some Californians that come here rent a place for six months then move again just so they can tell the new neighbors they are from a more local area and thus avoid the trashing. It's also interesting to see how long it takes for a car with Californian plates to get pulled out of a ditch on an icy road here, LOL. I also like the graffiti on the walls in the mens room of a few local establishments; "Californianas go Home". There used to be bumper stickers available which read "Have a nice trip............back to California".

Just yanking your chain a bit sinjin......
I've got a brother and sister together with 5 nieces and nephews all living in Arvada for the past 6 or 7 years.

No flame intended but I am curious to know what IYO about the Californians and their "lifestyle" makes them so different and unwelcome? From what little I've seen of WA being mostly Seattle I see many "West Coast" similarities that would suggest we have more in common than we have in contrast.
Funny, I just spotted this thread and said to myself "OH NO - they better not be picking on my buddy Sinjin! So I come charging in here with my sword drawn and ready for battle.
. . only to see him kicking your butts around at his descretion.
What would your Momma's think ?!?!?!
P.S. "75% of the U.S. agricultural production is from California" I can not dispute this - so I won't even try RLH. But I have never seen this number before. Would you please, can you please, point out an informational resource (URL) for this figure? (The actual reason for this post BTW)
