I have a 2004 XLT Screw 4x4, and one of the nuances that's been bothering me is the mini messaging center reverts back to odometer instead of trip odometer (where I left it) if I have the ignition off for 15 min or so.
Has anyone else noticed that? I realize it's no big deal, but it's starting to annoy me. The dealer said to make an appointment to bring it in because they didn't think it should be doing that.
Ditto for that on My XLT. The other thing I am a bit perturbed by is the contrast/brightness level or lack of adjustment. I would like to be able to set the display to green letters on black or darken the black letters to make them easier to read in bright daylight.
I have a Lariat and the trip odometer comes back displayed even if you shut off the vehicle, there must be a difference in the message centers from XLT to Lariats!I guess it would be nice to keep it where it was left seeing the 3 buttons to read and set displays are not very convenient to see from a sitting position.
Well, I don't mean for this minor little thing to drag on, but I'll give an update on it. I did get a call from the customer relation management people tonight taking their survey, and I told them about this, and they looked it up and said it shouldn't be doing it, and it may have something to do with something during assembly which they'll provide back to the Kansas plant mine came from. So maybe I will take it in and have it checked.
Yeah, the Lariat has the full message center, which is recognizable by the 3-button job, whereas the mini message center just has the one button shaft that you see for resetting the odometer, toggling trip, and also used for setting Compass Zones. I believe the full message center gives you additional info such as est miles left before gas needed, etc. Whereas the mini center will tell you miles, trip miles, and other things when necessary, such as DOOR AJAR, LOW FUEL, or CHECK GAUGES (lets hope we never see that later of those )
I had the Low fuel message come on and stay on ... problem was,..... I was pulling away from the gas pup after filling up when it happened. I had to shut the car off and restart it to get the warning off. Only happened once so far in 1700 miles we'll see
The owners manual says you can expect slow needle reaction if you fill the truck up with the engine running, I would think logic would say the low fuel message would be slow to react also. Some states it is the law you must turn your vehicle off be fueling.
