ERROR MI in message center

ERROR MI in message center
OK so im getting en "ERROR MI" in my message center of my 03 5.4 EB. The truck still seems runs OK but does not record/calculate any mileage. I dont even get an odometer.
Any thought??? I know its all electronic but could i have a tranny issue. I have about 75K on the truck.

Yes speedometer works fine. All other gauges in cluster work fine. I just get the "ERROR MI" in the message center, and i does not calculate miles,time or any of the other functions. The annoying thing is when im following directions and some say go X miles and turn. I have no way of calculating miles.
